Vadodara
A pleasant, medium-sized city formerly known as Baroda, Vadodara has palaces, temples, parks, lakes and monuments. Of special interest is the Pratap Vilas Palace which has a miniature railway model room, complete with all railway operations including signalling. The city's Fine Arts College is exceptional and attracts students from all over India and abroad.
Gandhi Nagar
Gandhi nagar is India's second planned city after Chandigarh. Its sole tourist site is the splendid Akshardham Temple of the Hindu Swaminarayan sect, constructed out of 6000 tonnes of pink sandstone.
Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad is one of the most magnificent cities of India. Major buildings include the Jama Masjid, with 250 elaborately carved pillars, the temple of Hathi Singh, Kankaria Lake, and Shaikh Siddhi's mosque. The world famous Sabarmati Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi is situated on the western side of Sabarmati River.
